Is 2016 5-star PF Jarrett Allen a Lock to Texas?
2016 5-star PF Jarrett Allen is the last uncommitted 5-star senior, aside from PF Thon Maker, who is entering the NBA Draft. Allen is ranked #17 nationally by CBB Latest and the #4 power forward in the 2016 class. Allen is a 6'9", 210 pound big man attending St. Stephen's Episcopal in Austin, Texas.
Allen appears to be down to Houston, Kansas, and Texas in his recruitment. The 247 Crystal Ball is 100% to Texas. Though Allen has not taken an official visit to Texas (he has taken three unofficial visits), and has officially visited Houston and Kansas, all signs are pointing to Texas at this point. I have gathered information from three sources who all agree Texas is the leading candidate. One source believes Houston does have a shot, but all signs are pointing to Texas. My second source "doubts" Kansas lands Allen, and that KU has a 15% chance to land him. He believes he is a guaranteed starter at Texas, which may impact his decision. My third source, one whom I am very confident in, is "95% sure" Texas lands Allen. Though Allen is keeping the majority of his recruitment confidential, my third source is very confident Allen will become a Longhorn. All three sources chose to remain anonymous.
After further research and analyzation, anything but Texas for Jarrett Allen is very surprising. I, personally, would say Allen is 92% to Texas, 5% to Houston and 3% to Kansas. There is no timetable for his announcement, but there have been rumors a decision is coming within the next week.
