The 2016 NBA Drft was surely an unpredictable one. Several players were picked higher than expected, and some were chosen lower than expected. The biggest surprise was the Milwaukee Bucks first-round pick. With the tenth pick in the NBA Draft, the Bucks selected Thon Maker, a power forward from Perth, Australia. Maker claims he is 19-years-old, though people have been skeptical of his age. Just hours before the draft, reports came out with near positivity that Maker was not 19. One tweet sent out by Adam Zagoria showed Thon Maker graduating high school in 2012. This would mean Maker would be 22 or 23-years-old today. Another tweet showed that even NBA scouts were unsure of Makers age. No one was successfully able to get ahold of Makers official birth certificate, however, one reliable source denied the Thon Maker rumors saying that Thon Makers camp can confirm Maker is 19-years-old. Regardless of his age, the Bucks are taking a serious risk drafting Maker this high. I expected Maker to be drafted in the 40's and was in nothing but shock when I heard his name announced with the tenth pick. Maker, though 7-0, is not ready for the NBA. Maker is what many scouts and analysts call him: "A Project." Maker is a fantastic shooter, especially for his height, but he does not have great post moves. Despite what Maker lacks, his potential is indescribable. If Maker develops to the best he can be, which may take a couple years, the amount of damage he will do on the court is immense. As confident as I am with Makers potential, he is too much of a project to go in the first round.
