Who's Winning In The Transfer Market?
There are 566 Division 1 players transferring to this date. The transfer market is very talented this year, led by former Duke guard Derryck Thornton and UNLV forward Dwayne Morgan. Let's see how the programs have faired thus far in the transfer market:
Auburn:
The three incoming transfers at Auburn are former Houston PG Ronnie Johnson, former Presbyterian F DeSean Murray, and former Bethune-Cookman F LaRon Smith. Johnson averaged 9.6 PPG, 2.9 RPG and 2.6 APG for the Houston Cougars. Murray averaged 20.2 PPG and 7.4 RPG as a sophomore at Presbyterian. LaRon Smith, who will be transferring to his third time, averaged 7.1 PPG and 6.9 RPG.
North Texas:
North Texas has three transfers who will be joining the Mean Green. The most notable transfer is from former SMU guard Keith Frazier. Frazier averaged 11.9 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 1.9 APG and 0.9 SPG last season. Former Incarnate Word forward Derail Green and former San Diego guard Ryan Woolridge are also joining the Mean Green.
South Florida:
Big men Isaiah Manderson from Texas Tech and Malik Martin from USC have decided on South Florida as their destination next season. Manderson averaged 3.0 PPG and 1.8 RPG at Texas Tech last season. Martin posted 1.8 PPG and 1.5 RPG as a Trojan in 2015-16.
St. John's
Two elite college basketball players in Marvin Clark Jr and Justin Simon will suit up for the Red Storm next season. Clark Jr is a forward from Michigan State who averaged 3.9 PPG and 2.5 RPG last season as a sophomore. Justin Simon, a former Arizona Wildcat guard, averaged 2.3 PPG off the bench last season.
UNC-Wilmington:
Former Old Dominion guard Ambrose Mosley and Wichita State guard Tyrone Taylor will both be joining the Seahawks next season. Mosley averaged 3.4 PPG and 4.2 RPG for the Monarchs. Taylor averaged 3.1 PPG and shot 88% from the charity stripe as a freshman at Wichita State.
Utah:
Former SMU PG Sedrick Barefield and former Utah State PF David Collette decided to transfer to Utah. Barfield was a three-star point guard out of high school. He will be a sophomore next season as a Ute. Collette transferred to Utah in December. In the 2014-15 season, Collette averaged 12.8 PPG, 5.0 RPG and shot 59% from the field.
