Taking a Look at the 2017 Class
As 2016 recruits finalize their college choices, it is nearly time to put all focus on the 2017 class, the current juniors who will be seniors next fall. The 2017 class is very talented, led by big man DeAndre Ayton and point guard Trevon Duval. The juniors have very talented forwards. Seven of the top eight players on our rankings are forwards, Trevon Duval being the only guard in the top eight. None of the top 15 prospects on our rankings are committed.
DeAndre Ayton, a power forward from Phoenix, Arizona, is undoubtedly the top player in the 2017 class. He is ranked #1 on CBB Latest, 247Sports, ESPN, Scout and Rivals. Amazingly, Ayton only has six offers. His offers are from Arizona, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland and San Diego State. Kansas holds 100% of the 247 Crystal Ball.
Trevon Duval is ranked #2 on our rankings. Duval is a point guard attending Advanced Preparatory International in New Castle, Delaware. Unlike Ayton, Duval has numerous offers. Duval holds 20 offers, including Arizona, Kansas and Villanova. Despite having no offer and only interest, Duke holds 33% of the Crystal Ball for Duval. Maryland also holds 33%. Villanova and "Foggy" hold 17% apiece.
Power forward Mohamed Bamba, small forward Michael Porter Jr. and small forward Kevin Knox wrap up the top 5 of the the 2017 class. Duke holds 84% of the Crystal Ball for Bamba. As for Porter, Washington holds 93% of the Crystal Ball. Similar to Bamba, Duke holds the majority of the Crystal Ball for Knox with 90%. There is still time for these players opinions to change, so just because one school is leading the Crystal Ball in May doesn't mean very much. However, all three of these players have a school that holds over 80% of the Crystal Ball, which is hinting that there is a level of certainty as to where these players will commit to.
